Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Breath ("the app") is a contemplative app that shows an estimated count of breaths remaining in the day and lets you "gift a breath" to people you are connected with.
What we collect, and why
| Data | Why | Shared with |
|---|---|---|
| The name you type in | Shown to the people you connect with and gift breaths to | Only people you are connected with |
| An anonymous account ID | Created automatically so the app knows which gifts are yours. No email, phone number or password is involved | No one |
| Your invite code | Lets someone connect with you when you share it | Anyone you give it to |
| Your name on your invite link | So the invite page can say "Asha would like to give you a breath" | Anyone who has your invite link or code |
| Your connections (names of people you connected with, and whether you blocked them) | To show your list of people and enforce blocking | No one |
| Gifts you receive (who sent it and when) | To show you the gift | No one |
| A notification address for your phone (only if you allow notifications) | So the people you're connected with can let your phone know when they give you a breath | Sent through Expo's push service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which deliver the notification |
This data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Singapore region), which Breath uses as its server. It is encrypted in transit. It is not used for advertising, not sold, and not shared with any other party.
On the website, Breath uses no cookies, analytics or third-party fonts.
Breath does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos, and does not use analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
The app also saves a few settings on your device only: how many breaths you have gifted today, the people you have pinned, when you last gave each person a breath, and whether you have seen the introduction. These never leave your phone and are removed when you uninstall the app.
When you choose "share image", the app creates a picture of your card and hands it to the app you pick in the share sheet. Breath does not keep or upload it.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Account → delete my account. This permanently deletes your name, code, invite link name, connections and received gifts from Breath's server, and your anonymous account. Details and other options: account deletion.
Children
Breath is not directed at children under 13.
